It’s really hard to expect a 2-years-old child to sit still for two minutes. It’s also challenging to teach a toddler about social skills and manners but it’s such a time of incredible growth and learning.

1. Start learning New Words: At the age of 2, your child can obey some of your commands like ‘sit down’, ‘come here’ so, start saying some more words politely like ‘thank you’, ‘please’ and while speaking take some time to repeat them. At this stage, you can start identifying alphabets as they have the power now to identify letters and numbers. They can answer some questions straightforward like ‘what is your name’? ‘what is your mother’s name’? You can also start teaching their own name.
2. Offer to join the table: While having lunch or dinner you can offer your child to join this will help in interacting with family and will also learn table manners. It’s okay if they get messy just be patience and let them eat in their own way. It will develop day by day.
3. Engage them in creativity: Allow your child to involve in some creativity. Provide them with whatever they need for it and let them explore their ideas and give them the freedom to do what they want.
4. Social Interaction: Take a break from your work and take your child to park or some places where he can interact with other children, it will develop his social skills. You
can also involve them in sharing like sharing while he is eating something or sharing the ride and also can teach them to have patience while he is waiting for his turn.
start asking for their help, try to involve them with your household work. When you are cleaning his room also ask for his help. This will also develop their manners.
5. Different Activities: Try to involve your child in different activities like singing, music, dancing, playing something like cricket or football. It will help you to decide that what he really likes the most. Don’t try to force your decision on them. Let them decide what they want to be.
